Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Workshop Contractors

We hear the same questions from Ontario homeowners at the start of nearly every project, and the honest answers matter more than the sales pitch. Here’s how we actually work: what we build, how we price it, who’s accountable, and how to know whether we’re the right general contractor for your renovation.

If your question isn’t here, call us at (844) 384-3361 and we’ll answer it directly.

Pricing & Estimates

How much does construction service cost in Ontario?

Construction service in Ontario typically runs from a few thousand dollars for a focused exterior repair to well into six figures for a full interior remodel or ADU addition, because cost is driven by scope, materials, and how many systems interact. We don’t publish flat prices because a kitchen remodel in a 1950s ranch near Euclid Avenue and a bathroom refresh in a newer build off Mountain Avenue are genuinely different projects. What we do instead is scope the work in person, price materials and labor line by line, and put it in one written estimate before anything starts. Call (844) 384-3361 to schedule a free estimate.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, we offer free estimates for remodeling and renovation projects across Ontario and the surrounding area. We walk the property, measure, talk through material options from our brand partners, and give you a written scope you can compare against other bids. The estimate includes the trade-offs we’d actually recommend, not just the cheapest path.

What affects the price of a remodel the most?

Material tier and the number of systems involved affect price more than square footage alone. Choosing Cambria or Caesarstone countertops over a builder-grade surface, James Hardie siding over vinyl, or Grohe and Kohler fixtures over commodity plumbing moves the number meaningfully. The other big driver is complexity: a bathroom that requires moving plumbing and electrical costs more than one where fixtures stay in place. We walk you through the trade-off conversation so you’re choosing, not guessing.

Can I choose between premium and cost-conscious materials?

Yes, and we build that flexibility into the estimate. Across the same product categories you can go premium or cost-conscious, whether that’s GAF or CertainTeed roofing, Cambria versus a more modest surface, or a premium paver versus a standard one. We guide the decision from experience rather than steering you to a single manufacturer’s upsell.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept standard payment methods including check and major forms of electronic payment, and payment terms are spelled out in your contract before work begins. We don’t take final payment until the agreed work is complete and you’ve had a chance to review it. Ask us to confirm the current accepted methods when we prepare your estimate.

Licensing, Trust & Guarantees

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, Workshop Contractors operates as a licensed general contractor and carries insurance on the work we perform. That matters on a renovation because a single project can involve roofing, electrical, plumbing, and structural work, and you want one accountable party carrying the coverage. We’re happy to provide documentation before you sign.

Do you guarantee your work?

We stand behind the work we perform and we back installations with the manufacturer warranties that apply to the materials we source. Because we buy and install our products, warranty coverage isn’t split between a supplier and a separate installer who blame each other. Specific warranty terms are confirmed in your contract for each project.

Who is accountable if something goes wrong across trades?

We are, under one contract. This is the whole reason we exist as a single-source general contractor. When roofing, windows, siding, and interior work all fall under one schedule and one team, there’s no finger-pointing between a roofer and a window installer about where a leak started. One team owns how every material and trade interacts.

Do you work with name-brand manufacturers?

Yes, we hold vetted relationships with more than 50 name-brand manufacturers across eight-plus product categories. On the roofing side that spans GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral; on surfaces, Cambria, Caesarstone, and Silestone; on cabinetry, KraftMaid and Wellborn; on fixtures, Kohler, Grohe, Toto, and Moen. These are relationships, not exclusivity, which means you get real product choice.

Service & Scheduling

How fast can you respond?

We typically respond to new project inquiries within one business day and schedule site visits quickly for active projects. Because we’re scoping real construction, the first conversation is usually a phone call to understand the project, followed by an on-site walkthrough. Call (844) 384-3361 and we’ll get you on the schedule.

Do you offer emergency construction service?

We handle urgent repair needs like active roof leaks and storm damage on a priority basis, but we’re a general contractor rather than a 24-hour emergency service. If you have water coming in or storm damage, call us and tell us what’s happening so we can triage it. For life-safety emergencies, call 911 first.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Ontario and the surrounding Inland Empire communities, including projects throughout San Bernardino County and nearby areas. We handle both exterior envelope work and full interior remodels across the region, and our General Contractor in Freedom page shows how we approach projects in neighboring markets. Not sure if you’re in range? Call and ask.

How does a project actually start?

A project starts with a call, then a site visit, then a written scope and estimate. Here’s the sequence most of our clients go through:

  1. Call and describe the project. We ask what you’re trying to accomplish and which systems are involved.
  2. Schedule an on-site walkthrough. We measure, inspect existing conditions, and identify what the project will touch.
  3. Talk materials and trade-offs. We walk through brand options and cost implications so you can decide with real information.
  4. Receive a written estimate and scope. One document covering materials, labor, and the full trade sequence.
  5. Sign one contract and build on one schedule. A single team manages every material and trade interaction from start to finish.

Do you handle projects where the roofline, siding, and interior all need work?

Yes, and those are the projects where single-source contracting earns its keep. A failing roof often sits above siding that’s also due, next to windows that leak, over an interior that’s getting remodeled anyway. Coordinating that as one engagement means the flashing, the siding transitions, and the window installation are all planned to work together rather than bolted on separately. From the roof down to the pavers, we handle it.

Specific Services

Do you handle roofing?

Yes, we handle full roofing installation and replacement as general contractor, sourcing from brands including GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral. Roofing is a genuine safety issue: steep-slope work, high-tension components, and anything involving height should be done by a trained professional, not tackled as a weekend project. We install with the manufacturer warranties that apply and manage the flashing, underlayment, and ventilation so the roof and the rest of the envelope work together.

Do you handle windows and doors?

Yes, we install windows and doors sourced through brands including PGT, CGI, and Therma-Tru. Window and door replacement is where a lot of heat loss and water intrusion problems start, and installing them as part of the whole envelope means the flashing and siding transitions are handled correctly. We source and install in the same engagement, so there’s one party responsible for fit and finish.

Do you handle kitchen remodeling?

Yes, we handle full kitchen remodels as general contractor, from cabinetry and countertops to plumbing fixtures and layout changes. We source cabinetry from KraftMaid and Wellborn, countertops from Cambria, Caesarstone, and Silestone, and fixtures from Kohler, Grohe, Toto, and Moen, so material decisions stay in-house rather than getting outsourced to a separate supplier. That’s the difference between a kitchen that looks finished and one that actually functions.

Do you handle bathroom remodeling?

Yes, we handle bathroom remodels including fixture replacement, tile, vanities, and layout changes. Bathrooms are where plumbing, electrical, ventilation, and waterproofing all meet in a small space, and getting those intersections wrong is expensive to fix later. We source all the fixtures and finishes through our brand relationships and install them under the same contract.

Do you build ADUs and prefab additions?

Yes, we build ADU and prefab additions through established relationships with manufacturers including Abodu, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, and Plant Prefab. Accessory dwelling units are one of the more complex projects a homeowner can take on because they combine site work, utilities, and a structure, and few general contractors carry this competency. We manage the site-side general contracting so the prefab unit lands, connects, and finishes as one project.

Do you handle siding and exterior work?

Yes, we install siding including James Hardie, and we handle exterior improvements like fencing and hardscaping. Fencing comes through brands like Master Halco, Ameristar, and Jerith, and pavers come from Belgard, Unilock, Tremron, Techo-Bloc, and Cambridge. That means we can extend the work from inside the home out to the property boundary under one schedule.

Are exterior and interior work handled as one project or two?

One integrated engagement, not two separate contractor relationships. Most homeowners don’t realize how many systems interact during a renovation, and splitting exterior and interior work across two contractors creates gaps at exactly the points where things leak or fail. Handling both under one contract closes those gaps. You can see how we talk about the whole-home scope on our home page.

Working With Us

What makes Workshop Contractors different from a specialty remodeler?

We carry multi-category capability under one roof where most remodelers specialize in one or two trades. That means material decisions across roofing, windows, cabinetry, surfaces, fixtures, hardscaping, and siding all stay in-house instead of getting passed between subs. One contractor. Every trade.

Do I need to manage the subcontractors myself?

No, that’s the point of hiring a general contractor. We manage the trade sequence, the schedule, and the material sourcing so you’re not playing project manager. You get one point of contact and one team responsible for the outcome.

Can you work with my existing plans or designer?

Yes, we can build from your plans or work alongside your designer, and we’re just as comfortable scoping a project from scratch. Either way, we’ll flag issues early where the design meets real conditions on your property.

What should I have ready before the first call?

Have a rough sense of what you want to change, which rooms or systems are involved, and your general budget range. A few photos help us understand the existing conditions before the site visit. The more we know upfront, the more useful the first conversation will be.
